Potassium Permanganate is highly regarded for its properties as a sanitizer, disinfectant, and water purifier. It is a dark purple crystalline powder that has long been included in military and civil defense first aid kits. It also makes a quick and easy chemical fire starter. For this reason, it is ideal for keeping in a bug-out bag or emergency preparedness supply kit. You can buy PP at Lowes or Home Depot or even Walmart. It is sold for cleaning fish tanks and for use in water purifiers. The last time I took notice, 5 lbs of PP costs about 30 bucks.
